The Ongoing Tradition of Citadel Clubs welcoming a new Class of Cadets to The Citadel – 2030
The Citadel’s Office of Admission in partnership with the Citadel Alumni Association work with our alumni clubs to organize and promote cadet sendoffs events each summer throughout the United States in support of new Cadet Family preparations and Upper-Class Cadet retention before Matriculation Day. These events are influential for cadets as our alumni share their experiences, provide an understanding of cadet life at The Citadel, and allow families to ask questions.
EVENT CONTENT RECOMMENDATIONS:
- Potential speaker – Leadership, Academics and Resiliency are the keen focal points of most speeches, should you align one for your sendoff. as part of the event programming (i.e. club leadership, upperclassman cadet to share dos & don’ts, notable alumnus(a), etc.)
- Q&A – provide a set window for new students and families to ask questions – alumni UC cadets respond.
- Honor Code – Principled Leadership.
- Selflessness – putting team before self brings benefits. Leaning on classmates for support.
- Physical preparation – running, pushups, crunches, pull-ups (for Marine types); be familiar with fitness requirements: https://www.citadel.edu/corps/physical-fitness/
- Academics – Staying 100% focused on academic preparation, execution and outcomes. Career building in the second semester – IE, do the cadet’s pursuits align with valuable internships / work study opportunities in the summer months.
- Local Support – Demonstrate your Citadel Club’s support for cadet success at The Citadel! Let these students know that their club is proud of them for their choice to attend The Citadel and will support their success throughout their time on campus and beyond.
