Claude S. Terry, of Neeses, died June 3, 2016. Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 11:00 am at St. Luke Presbyterian Church, Orangeburg, SC. Mr. Terry will be placed in the sanctuary of the church one hour before the service. Interment services will follow at Belleville Memorial Gardens, Orangeburg, SC. Claude Sanford Terry, son of the late James Edgar Terry and Laura Armstrong Terry, was born September 7, 1935 in Seneca, SC. He departed this life on June 3, 2016 at Lexington Medical Center. Mr. Terry joined Ebenezer Baptist Church in Seneca at an early age. After moving to Orangeburg, he became a member of St. Luke Presbyterian Church. His educational background include a diploma from Oconee County High School, Seneca, SC, a B.S. and M.Ed. degrees from South Carolina State University, and an Educational Specialist degree from The Citadel. His professional experiences began as a coach and teacher at Elloree Training School. Next, he was a teacher and coach at New Deal High School, Starr, SC. His thirty year tenure at the former Orangeburg School District One included his positions as a Teacher, Coach, Assistant Principal, Principal and District Superintendent. After retirement from public school, he worked at Toyota of Orangeburg before becoming Counselor and Dean of Students for several years at Claflin University. He was a member of several church, educational, and community organizations. Mr. Terry was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved stepmother, Eliza Gaut Terry; his sisters, Sonnie Elizabeth Terry and Sara Terry Sullivan; his brother, James Edward Terry. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Constance (Connie) Holland Terry; his son, Anthony Claude (Angela) Terry of Orangeburg, SC; his daughter, Sandra Terry (Eric) Brown of Lawrenceville, GA; four grandchildren, Kimberly Terry, Julian Terry, Esa Terry, and Brandon Brown; three great-grandchildren, Jalen Johnson, Sydney Guest, and Zoey Lynn Terry; a sister-in-law, Mildred Terry of Seneca; nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. Viewing for the public will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am4:00 pm at the funeral home. The family will greet friends at St. Luke Presbyterian Church on Thursday evening at 6:00 pm. Members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. will conduct their memorial service at 7:00 pm.
