Clark S. Reece, 63, of Hillsville, Va., passed away on Monday, July 30, 2018 at his home after a long battle with cancer. Mr. Reece was preceded in death by his parents, Jess and Virginia Reece; brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Melinda Reece; and sisters, Colleen Terry, Glenna Smith, and Linda Lowe.
Survivors include his wife of 26 years, Connie Reece; son, Duncan Reece; daughter, Samantha Reece; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Lois Reece, Chester Elmo and Myra Reece, Lonnie and Debbie Reece and Jerry Reece; sister, Wiladeen Reece, special niece and friend, Cindy Conner and husband, John; brothers-in-law, Archie Terry and Bobby Smith; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Clark graduated from Carroll County High School in 1973 and The Citadel in 1977. Clark taught the subjects he loved most, History and Government, for 36 years in Carroll, Pulaski, and Surry Counties. He coached several sports in both Carroll and Pulaski Counties and was part of the state championship football coaching staff in Pulaski County in 1992.
Aside from teaching and coaching, Clark was a farmer. He loved the farm and raising cattle. Clark could tell the history of each cow on the farm and recognize each one from a half a mile away.
Clark was a loving and devoted husband, father, brother and a friend to everyone.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018 at Vaughan-Guynn-McGrady Chapel at 3:00 PM with Pastor David Bays officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM prior to the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Mountain Valley Hospice or the American Cancer Society. A guestbook is available online by visiting www.vaughanguynnandmcgrady.com.
