Charles Robert Johnson Jr. of 2307 W. North Ave. died Friday, Nov. 21, 2003, at Anderson Area Medical Center. Born in Anderson, he was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and was a graduate of The Citadel. He was president and owner of Brissey Lumber Company, was a founder of Tri-County Technical College, former chairman of Anderson County Developmental Board and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughters, Trudy Johnson and Kay King, both of Anderson; and five grandchildren. He was the widower of Frances Bailes Bailes Johnson and the son of the late Charles R. and Willie Bruce Johnson. He was preceded in death by a sister, Paula J. Wright; and a brother, J. Bruce Johnson. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Sullivan-King Mortuary, Downtown Chapel. A private graveside service will be held. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice.
