Charles Robert “Bob” Terry, 92, of Raleigh, passed away on December 25, 2022 in Rex Hospital.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 6 at 3:00pm at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh.
Bob was born in Raleigh, NC to Fitzhugh Lee Terry and Margaret Smith Terry on November 24, 1930. He graduated from Broughton High School in Raleigh, NC and from The Citadel in 1953. Bob was a three year member of the basketball team at the Citadel. He married Benetta Ann Mixson on January 12, 1954 in Charleston, SC. Bob served in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956, stationed in Germany. He also served in the Army Reserves from 1956-1960 while starting his career in real estate.
Bob began working at his father’s company, Adams-Terry, in 1956. He spent a short time with Cameron Brown before starting his own real estate firm called Bob Terry Inc. Bob served as President of the Raleigh Board of Realtors from 1968 and was named Realtor of the Year in 1969.
Bob was a charter member of his church, Hudson Memorial Presbyterian, where he served as a deacon and the church’s first treasurer. His deepest love was his family and spending time with them. He was a beloved father, grandfather, and friend who deeply touched the lives of so many.
Bob is survived by his children Michael Terry and wife Donna, Robert Terry and wife Janice, Lisa Rahn and husband Phil, his brother Thomas Terry, grandchildren Megan Rahn, Matthew Rahn, Benjamin Rahn and wife Linda, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Donations may be given in Bob’s honor to the Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church.
