A blessing for Charles Nelson Ray, 71, of Scotch Plains will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the Gosselin Funeral Home, 660 New Dover Rd., Edison. Mr. Nelson died Thursday at home. He was executive vice president at S.M. Electrical in Rahway, where he worked for 17 years before retiring in 1993. Earlier, he worked for Peter Kiewit & Son in Trenton. A 1959 graduate of The Citadel, Charleston, S.C., Mr. Ray served in the Navy during the Korean War. He was a member of the Citadel Alumni Association and the American Arbitration Association, and a life member of the International Electrical and Electronics Engineers. Born in Waltham, Mass., Mr. Ray lived in Rahway before moving to Scotch Plains 24 years ago. Surviving are a son, Stephen; daughters, Linda McDonald and Donna Sharko; four stepchildren; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
