Lt. Col. Charles “Buzz” Buzze, 64, of Cherry Log, died Monday, July 13 2009. He is survived by wife, Jan Buzze; and daughters and sons-in-law, Amy and Jeremy Anderson, Leigh and Greg Barrington, Ashley and Chuck Dagley; and six grandchildren. He was an air force fighter pilot with 3000 plus hours in the F- 100, F-4, F-5 and the F-15. He flew 202 combat missions in Vietnam. He is a graduate of the F-4 Fighter Weapons School, the F-15 Fighter Weapons School and the F-5 Aggressor Weapons School. He was subsequently commander of the F-15 Fighter Weapons Squadron and the 65th Aggressor Squadron, at Nellis AFB, Nevada. Buzz also served as Commander, 1st Group, United States Air Force Academy. He was retired from Lockheed Martin after 14 years. Memorial services were held Friday, July 17, 2009 at 11 a.m., from the chapel of Bernhardt Funeral Home with the Rev. Edmund Miller, Glen Clark, Al Purden, Dave Brueggler, Dave McClelland and the Rev. Jim Shorter officiating. Music was by Irene Wofford.
