Charles Franklin “Tuffy” Edge of Aynor, SC died peacefully in his home in Conway, SC on Nov. 19th, 2020, with his loving wife Meredith “Mikki” Edge by his side.
He was predeceased in death by his parents, his brother, Dewey Edge and sister Ann Bashor. He is survived by his step-son Mario Perez of Florence SC and many nieces and nephews.
Charles graduated with honors from the Citadel and was a member of the National Engineering Honor’s Society, Tau Beta Pi. While at the Citadel, he was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, served two years of active duty and eight years as a reservist. He went to work at Howard Hughes Aircraft, El Segundo, California as an Aerospace Engineer where his adeptness, desire and obsession of engineering catapulted him to being the Chief Scientist in Signal Processing and the Guidance and Control Division of satellite launches have contributed to the technological innovations we enjoy today.
Upon retirement Mr. Edge returned to Aynor where he became an entrepreneur and consultant
which brought professional and personal prosperity to the community.
Mr. Edge was loved and respected by all, for his dry wit, intelligence, honesty and professionalism.
Charles will be greatly missed by all.
