A bright light has gone out in our family. Caleb Daniel Desjardins, 30, of Myrtle Beach, went to be with Jesus March 31, 2021. To know Caleb was to love the fun and joy he brought into the most ordinary days. His trademark beautiful smile would light up any room on the darkest of days. From an early age he was a gifted athlete and fiercely competitive. Although he played and enjoyed many sports, football was his main passion; he loved playing the game from little league rec ball, all the way through high school on the state championship football team.
Caleb was fiercely loyal and dedicated to his family and friends. You could count on Caleb to always have your back. He attended the Citadel, and Coastal Carolina University, and afterwards worked for Integrity Heating and Cooling.
Caleb considered his three beautiful sons, Elijah Daniel Desjardins; Caleb Gabriel Desjardins; and Luke Aaron Desjardins to be his greatest achievement in life. He loved them so very much.
Caleb came from a large and loving family that loved and supported him throughout his life, as he was not without struggles in his young life. Caleb loved Jesus and we are comforted by our assurance of his faith in God. Addiction was his earthly struggle; he battled it a number of times, but it was an ongoing struggle that clouded his great potential. It was a fierce battle that he cried out to God to deliver him from many times. Now he has his ultimate rest in Heaven with Jesus from this horrible disease.
Caleb leaves behind his loving grandparents, Robert and Gerrie Hurt, and his grandmother Kazue Desjardins. He also is survived by his mom and dad, Naoki and Lisa Desjardins; four siblings; Joshua Desjardins (Anda); Joseph Desjardins (Kaitlin), Stephen Desjardins and his sister Elizabeth Desjardins, and his fiancé Kyle Murphy. In addition to his immediate family, Caleb had a cousin Blake Holt (JinJu) who he loved as a brother, Aunt Sabina and Uncle Rick Holt; Uncle Rob Hurt (Grace) and close cousins Rebekah Callen (Robert) and Jessica Arroyo (Abel); and a whole host of extended aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends. Sometimes in life you get to have family by choice, and that was the case for Caleb, he had an entire extra set of siblings in the Ruska family-Hal, Cherie, Laura, Hal (Jordan), Faith, and Jessica; and special friends- Paul and Kimberly Stevens.
Caleb was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Francis Desjardins.
A visitation will take place on Monday, April 5, 2021 from 6pm-8pm at Ocean View Baptist Church and a funeral will be held at 2:00pm on Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at Ocean View Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Ocean View Baptist Church or to the Myrtle Beach High School Boosters Club.
