SPARTANBURG, SCCager Finch Wingo, 77, of Spartanburg, died Sunday, November 13, 2005 at Mary Black Memorial Hospital. Born January 14, 1928, he was the son of the late Robert Allen and Grace Finch Wingo. A native of Spartanburg County, he was a graduate of Spartanburg High School and The Citadel and a Life Member of the Association of Citadel Men. He was a Veteran of World War II and served in the Philippines. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, where he had served on the finance and educational trust committees and was a member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class. Mr. Wingo was a Certified Public Accountant and a retired partner in the firm of Scott Taylor, White, and Wingo. He was a member of the American Institute of CPAs and a member of the South Carolina Association of CPAs. He practiced public accounting for more than 50 years and continued to do so on a limited basis until his last illness. He taught veterans night classes in accounting at Cecils Business College during the 50s. He was devoted to his family, loyal to his clients, and cultivated a strong work ethic. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Mary Alice Colley Wingo his daughter, Denise Wingo Heeren and her husband Steven John Heeren of Spartanburg and a sister, Mary Alice Wingo Lenear of Spartanburg. The family will receive friends 2-2:45 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at Floyds Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Dr. Alastair Walker, the Rev. Bill Adams, and the Rev. Sal Barone. The committal service will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Gardens Heritage Chapel Mausoleum. Pallbearers will be Paul M. Dorman, II, Paul S. Julienne, Alvin McAbee, Donald E. White, Judson Wolfe, and Danny Holcombe. Memorials may be made to the glory of God and in memory of Cager F. Wingo to the First Baptist Church Educational Trust Fund, 250 East Main Street, Spartanburg, SC 29306 or to The Citadel Foundation, 171 Moultrie Street, Charleston, SC 29409.
