Bruce Aylard Quigley, Sr., 86, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2012 at Moses Cone Hospital surrounded by the love of his family. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 1 p.m. at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Greensboro where he was a long time member. A visitation will follow the service in the parish hall. Bruce was born November 30, 1925 to the late Richard Isaac and Marjorie Aylard Quigley in Detroit, MI and grew up in High Point, NC. He attended the University of Michigan and graduated from the Citadel in 1949. He is a veteran of World War II, serving in the US Army Air Corps. In 2010, Bruce was thrilled to participate in the Flight of Honor to visit the World War II Memorials in Washington, DC with other WWII Veterans. Later Bruce had a career in sales and marketing, at one time owning a business in Greensboro. He was a natural salesman as he loved to meet people and could start a conversation with anyone. He lived in Greensboro for 47 years and lived in New York and Wilmington, NC with his family beforehand. Bruce was an avid sports fan, appreciated outings with his wife, Nancy, and enjoyed learning new things. He was a life member of the Citadel Alumni Association and Gate City Masonic Lodge No. 694. He was active in Community Watch of Greensboro and helped establish the group in his own neighborhood. Bruce is survived by his wife of 63 years, Nancy Osteen Quigley of Greensboro; brother, Richard (Penny) Quigley of High Point; daughter, Barbara Forsythe of Greensboro; son, Bruce Quigley Jr. (Lisa) of Greensboro; four grandchildren, Bruce (Ashley) Quigley III of Winston-Salem, Alison (Paul) Hicks of Winston-Salem, Ashley (Craig) Bardsley of Wilmington, and Brent Forsythe of Greensboro; and four (soon to be five) great-grandchildren, Matthew and Bryan Quigley, Cole and New Baby Bardsley, and Gray Hicks; and a host of nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Marcia Ann Quigley. In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
