Rev. Brian Earl Ogburn, 64, of Winnsboro, SC, died, Sunday, April 2, 2017. Born June 23, 1952 in Rock Hill, S.C. He was the son of the late James Earl Ogburn and Lonnette Estes Ogburn.
Brian received a BA Degree from the Citadel, class of 1974, and Master of Divinity from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. He was an ordained Baptist Minister. Years before going into the ministry, he worked and managed First Insurance Agency, which was the family business. Later Brian was a funeral assistant with Shives Funeral Home. He was a musician, often playing bagpipes for funerals, weddings, Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans and other celebrations. Brian also enjoyed his service as a Hospice Chaplain rendering pastoral care to families in need. He was employed with Kershaw Hospice. Rev. Ogburn was a member of Winnsboro First Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary Elizabeth “Bunny” Lyles Ogburn; a son, Grady Earl Ogburn (Dana); daughter, Margaret Caroline Ogburn Beamer (Matt); a grandson, James Hawk Ogburn; and brother, Jimmy Ogburn (Trish.)
A funeral service will be held 11 o’clock, Saturday, April 8th, at Greenbrier United Methodist Church, 681 Greenbrier Mossydale Road, Winnsboro. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Jessie Powers Evangelistic Assoc., 1508 Montclair Street, Charleston, SC 29407 or Haiti Mission Team, Liberty Baptist Church, 1542 Liberty Road, Chester, SC 29706. Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel, is assisting the family.
