Bobby E. Smith, age 74, of Atlanta, passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 after bravely battling Multiple Myeloma cancer for 11 years. Bobby was born in Savannah, Georgia on November 2,1947, the son of the late Benjamin (Ben) Smith and the late Elizabeth Russom Smith. His residence was in Atlanta, Georgia. Bobby was a proud graduate of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina. He was especially proud of his Class of ’69. Upon graduation he and his father established Charleston Contractors, a successful pile driving company, from 1973 to 1985. He then became Senior Project Manager to several companies. Bobby is preceded in death by his two sisters, Phyllis Smith Dixon and Debbie Karimi Nunez. Survivors are his wife of 51 years, Teresa Smith, son Brent Smith (Lisa) and daughter Jennifer Dempsey (Joshua). His grandchildren are Jack, Lawton and Quinn Dempsey and Aaron and Corey Smith. His nieces and nephews are Stephanie Simmons and family, Lori Bunn and family, and Michael Karimi and Michelle Karimi and family. Bobby was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church in Atlanta. His faith was very important to him. He loved taking care of his family. His joy was spending time with his grandsons. He was a devoted husband, father and Papa. A Graveside Service for Mr. Bobby Smith will be held on Saturday, December 18, 2021 at 11:30 AM in the Greenwich section of the Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. 330 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404 Remembrances may be sent to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.
