Bernard T. Renzy III (Age 78) died peacefully at home in Flint Hill, VA, surrounded by family, on December 20, 2015. He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Sandra Welborn Renzy; his three daughters and sons-in-law, Dawn and John Bellinger, Rachel and Stephen Meima, and Ann and Nicholas Maclean; grandchildren, Catharine and Ann Bellinger, Rose and Hughes Meima, and Benjamin and Oliver Maclean; his two sisters, Helen Lucke and Carolyn Renzy; and many nieces and nephews.
Bernie was born in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Ann Quaranta and Bernard Renzy. He graduated from St. Francis Preparatory School (Brooklyn, NY) in 1955, the Citadel (Charleston, SC) in 1959, and the University of South Carolina School of Law (Columbia, SC) in 1963. He practiced corporate tax law as partner at the firm of Hamel & Park and later became Special Counsel to the Committee on the Present Danger until joining the Reagan Administration as Counsel to the President”s Intelligence Oversight Board. After that time, he continued handling his many international clients and represented the U.S. government in Russia, Germany, Nicaragua, Chile, and Cuba, among other countries. Bernie was a long-time resident of McLean, VA and resided for six years in Lincoln, VA.
The family will receive friends at Moser Funeral Home in Warrenton, VA on Tuesday, December 22, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. A Gregorian Requiem Mass will be held at St. John the Baptist Church in Front Royal, VA on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. Burial, with military honors at St. Peter”s Church in Little Washington, VA and reception at the home in Flint Hill, VA will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Piedmont in Charlottesville, VA or Flint Hill Volunteer Fire Department in Flint Hill, VA. Details available at:
