Benjamin Tillman “Tim” Felder, Jr., 84, of Travelers Rest, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024.
Mr. Felder was born in Orangeburg April 8, 1940, a son of the late Benjamin and Nelle Bamberg Felder. He was a 1958 graduate of Bamberg High School. He continued his education by receiving a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering graduating from The Citadel in 1962. Upon graduation Tim served two years as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army at Fort Benning, Georgia. Mr. Felder began his professional career working as an engineer in the Bridge Department for the State of California then moved onto the private sector working as an engineering consultant. He was a licensed professional engineer in the states of California, Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Virginia.
Tim enjoyed hang gliding and was a member of the U.S. Hang Gliding Association. He had many other hobbies including running, completing two marathons, as well as moto cross, sky diving, and kayaking.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents G. Frank and Nelle McGee Bamberg, and paternal grandparents Jacob and Mary Cox Felder.
Surviving are a son, Benjamin Tillman Felder, III, and wife Carolyn of Lusby, Maryland; two daughters, Sarah Felder Kurtz of Buffalo, and Elizabeth Nelle McGrath of Clover; four grandchildren, Benjamin Tillman Felder IV, Jacob David Felder, Joseph Patrick Kurtz, Genevieve Elizabeth McGrath; and niece, Marie Felder Barker.
