Benjamin Louis ‘Ben’ Daniel Sr., 74, husband of Marie Reynolds Daniel, of Goose Creek, SC, entered into eternal rest Saturday, October 13, 2018. The relatives and friends of Benjamin and Marie Daniel are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 888 King Street, Charleston. The Rite of Committal will follow at St. Lawrence Cemetery, Huguenin Ave., Charleston. The family will receive friends between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM Tuesday, with a 7:30 Rosary, at the James A. Ben was born January 25, 1944, in Thomaston, GA, the second son of the late Ruby Nixon and Louis Daniel. He was a graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston. He attended the Citadel on a football scholarship and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Upon graduation in the class of 1966, he was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, from which he was honorably discharged with the rank of Captain in 1970. He was a successful entrepreneur, and spent the remainder of his working years in the Construction and Development industry. Ben had many characteristics: strong, loving, kind, generous, compassionate. He mentored many young people while serving as a football coach. Ben was adored by his family, and considered himself the richest man in the world because he was loved. In addition to his loving wife of 51 years, Ben is survived by his five children: Benjamin Louis Daniel II (Patti), Alycia Daniel Busche (John), Thomas Michael Daniel (Helen), Elizabeth Daniel McGrath, Bridgett Daniel Truesdell (Phil); 21 grandchildren: Mary Katherine, Taylor, Danielle, Benjamin, John, James, Rebecca, Michael, Sophia, Jordan, Thomas, Joseph, Gabriel, Luke, Jackson, Isabella, EmmaGrace, Alaina, Patrick, Bayley and Ava; one brother, Andy Daniel; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
