Major Bailey Montford Morrow, US Army (Ret.) CHARLESTON – Entered into eternal rest on the evening of July 1, 2012, Major Bailey Montford Morrow, US Army retired, husband of Jessie Bryson Morrow resident of Charleston, SC. The family is inviting friends to attend the service Sunday, July 8, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. in J. HENRY STUHR, INC., DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Interment at Live Oak Memorial Gardens. Friends may call at Stuhr’s Downtown Chapel Saturday between 5:00 and 7:00 p.m. Major Morrow was born December 11, 1929 in Winston-Salem, NC, the son of Zimri Montford Morrow and Octola Bailey Morrow. He was a graduate of The Citadel and an Eagle Scout. He served with the US Army from 1952-1968. Major Morrow was a devoted Christian who believed in serving God first, then family and country. He was a member of Folly Beach Baptist Church and served as Deacon and chairman of Deacons for the Baptist Church. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels. After military service he worked at the Citadel as comptroller, founded Morrow Tire Center in Mt. Pleasant, SC and worked at the Charleston Naval Base in radiation control. Major Morrow served as an officer and member of Kiwanis Club, Optimist Club, Antique Car Club of America, National Sojourners, Inc., a member of Masonic Lodge Rock Hill Lodge #111 A.F.M., York Rite and a Shriner. He was the Vice President and past President of the HOA at ‘A Place at the Beach’, Myrtle Beach, SC. Major Morrow is survived by his wife Jessie and three sons: Bailey M. Morrow, Jr. (Nancy) of Barnwell, SC, Dr. Robert L. Morrow (Pam) of James Island, SC and William Michael Morrow (Linda) of Valrico, FL; seven grandchildren: Bailey Morrow, III (Ansley), Charles Morrow (Rebecca), Robert Morrow, Jr. (Rachel), Christopher Morrow (Tara), Sarah Trisler (Richard), Tara Peevy (Scott), and Miranda Warshaw (Derick); eight great grandchildren: Bailey, Abigail, Ian, Emmalyn, and Lillian Faith Morrow; Makenzie and Anna Baines Trisler and Davis Peevy; one brother: Reverend John Thomas Morrow (Lois) of Camden, SC; four step-children: Debra Dunn, Bob Harris, David and Charles Putnam; four step-grandchildren: Damon Dunn, Tracy Simpson, Daryl Putnam and Nancy Gavin. He is predeceased by his parents and his first wife Mary Daughtry Morrow. Many thanks to the Doctors and Nurses that cared for him all these years.
