Aubrey Milton Hill, 88, of Hanahan, SC, husband of beloved wife, Sandra Roberts Hill, entered eternal rest on July 8, 2023.
Aubrey is survived by his wife; 5 sons A. Milton Hill, II (Mae) of Moncks Corner, SC; Ron Hill (Paige) of Mount Pleasant, SC; James C. Hill of North Charleston, SC; Michael S. Hendrix (Michelle) of Lexington, SC; and Chris Hendrix (Stephanie) of Moncks Corner, SC; 7 grandchildren: D. Kristen Hill, Jonathan Hill (Courtney), Logan Hill, Landon Hill, Taylor Hendrix, Mason Hendrix (Alexis), and Madison Hendrix; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Aubrey was born October 31, 1934, the youngest son of the late W. Calvin Hill and Eunice Love Hill in Moncks Corner, SC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vera S. Hill; brothers W.C. Hill Jr., Eugene Hill and Charles Hill; and sister Betty Hill Kelly.
He was a Marine veteran of the Korean War, a graduate of The Citadel and was an Electrical Engineering Designer at the Charleston Naval Shipyard. Aubrey received his professional engineer certification in 1983. He was Head of the Satellite Communications Engineering Division with Naval Electronic Systems Engineering Center. Even after retiring, Aubrey continued working as a professional engineer with government contractors, Milcom and RCI, and was an adjunct professor at Trident Technical College.
Aubrey and Sandra loved to travel, first traveling in an RV around the country and then taking trips around the world with dear friends Lew and Kathy Flader. Aubrey was a devoted husband, loving father and proud grandfather. He was true Southern gentleman; Aubrey was kind and generous, and saw the good in everyone.
He served as a church elder first at Yeamans Park Presbyterian Church and then at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church.
A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, 712 Wappoo Road, Charleston, SC. A reception will be held after the service in the church’s Fellowship Hall.
