Arthur Jack Schoenberg, 77, of Charleston, husband of Odella Cannon Schoenberg, died Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2005, in Charleston. Mr. Schoenberg was born Aug. 20, 1928, in Beaufort, a son of Leopold Schoenberg and Gertrude Goldberg Schoenberg. He was a 1950 graduate of The Citadel and retired as a civil engineer with Naval Engineering Facility Command and he belonged to synagogue Emanu-El. Survivors include his wife of Charleston two daughters, Gail Cantor of Philadelphia and Arlene Yegelwel of Jacksonville, Fla. a stepdaughter, Kelly Keen of Elmer, N.J. a son, Lewis Schoenberg of Newton, Mass. a stepson, Edward Mills of Seattle two brothers, Melvin Schoenberg of New York and Julian Schoenberg of Greenville two sisters, Lucille Greenly of Beaufort and Gwennin Bernstein of Denver nine grandchildren and four stepgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Harrit Finberg Schoenberg. Memorials may be made synagogue Emanu-El, 5 Windsor Drive, Charleston, SC 29407. J. Henry Stuhr Downtown Chapel is in charge.
