Arthur Hazard Doyle, of Georgetown, departed this world on Thursday, May 16, 2013 after a short illness at Georgetown Memorial Hospital. Arthur was born March 23, 1929 in Florence to Joseph A. Doyle and Ruth H. Doyle. He was a graduate of Winyah High School and The Citadel. Arthur taught English, History, and Science at Winyah Jr. High School. He was Assistant Principal at Beck Middle School and Georgetown High School. He furthered his degree at Brendan College in Middlebury, Vt. and Peabody University in Nashville, Tenn. Arthur was a member of Winyah Indigo Society, Cotillion Club of Georgetown, and through his love of books was a supporter of Georgetown County Library. He was a member of Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church, where he sang in the choir for many years. He loved to travel, visiting Europe, Greenland, and the United States. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He was truly a Southern gentleman. He was predeceased by: his wife, Mary Lou; his son, Chip; his parents; his brother, Joe Doyle; his sister, Johnnie Morris; his triplet brother, Ingle Doyle; and his cousin, Frances Doyle, M.D. He is survived by: triplet brother, James Doyle (Pat); sister, Sarah Pusey (Frank); sons, Frank Collins (Nancy) and David Collins; eight grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at eleven o’clock on Monday morning, May 20, 2013, at Prince George, Winyah, Episcopal Church. Officiating will be the Very Rev. Paul C. Fuener. Burial will follow in the Churchyard. The family will receive friends on Sunday afternoon, May 19, 2013, at the Georgetown Chapel of Mayer Funeral Home from three until five o’clock.
