Arthur Bartley Fowler Jr., age 88, of Charlotte, NC, passed away Saturday, September 27, 2008, at Harris Hospice, Presbyterian Hospital with his son at his side. Arthur was born in Florence, SC to the late Arthur B. Fowler Sr. and the late Jennie Craver Fowler. Arthur graduated from Florence High School and went on to graduate in The Class of 1942 from the Citadel and served his country in the U. S. Air Force. He served as President of Chlorinator Sales and Service from 1979 until his passing. He also worked at Wallace and Tiernan for many years. A funeral service conducted by Rev. Timothy Brown for Arthur will be held at McKee Road Baptist Church on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 at 1:00 p.m. The family will meet friends from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at the church before the service. Arthur will be laid to rest at Evergreen Cemetery. Mr. Fowler was a charter member of McKee Road Baptist Church. He was a member in good standing and past president of Matthews Lions Club. Arthur also earned the level of Eagle Scout while in the Boy Scouts. He was also a Life member of The Association of Citadel Men. Arthur was preceded in death by his first wife, Constance Arthur Fowler. He also was preceded by three brothers; Jack, Sam and Dean Fowler. He is survived by his wife Alice D. Smith-Fowler of the home, a son Bart Fowler and wife Sandra of Matthews, a daughter Elaine F. Mauldin and husband Darrell of Mint Hill. Arthur also leaves behind three grandchildren Chuck Fowler and wife, Beth; Leola Fowler; and Scott Mauldin and wife Tina. He also leaves behind two great granddaughters; Madison Mauldin and Samantha Mauldin. The Family has requested memorials in Arthurs name be made to, McKee Road Baptist Church, 4300 McKee Road, Charlotte, NC 28270. Arrangements for Mr. Fowler are in the care of Heritage Funeral & Cremation Service, Indian Trail Chapel. Tags: 1942
