With deep love and gratitude, we announce the peaceful passing of Archie David “Pete” Duncan Jr., a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who touched countless lives with his kindness, generosity, and unwavering loyalty.
Pete is survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Anita G. Duncan; his daughters, Angela D. Millon and Elizabeth A. Duncan; and his cherished grandchildren, Michael Millon, Megan Millon, Paul Duncan, David Miller, and Emily Miller.
A proud graduate of The Citadel (Class of 1956), Pete served in the Army at Fort Jackson and later built a distinguished career as Northeast Regional Manager at Westvaco, where he worked for over 30 years. After retiring, he pursued his passion for the water through co-ownership of Duncan’s Boat Harbour, where he shared his love of boating with family and friends. Nothing brought him more joy than pulling his grandchildren on skis and tubing through Charleston’s waterways, creating memories that will be treasured forever.
Pete was deeply committed to his community, Governor of the Carolinas District of Kiwanis International in 2000-2001, President of the Kiwanis Club of Charleston 1994-1995 and was a Kiwanis International Foundation Trustee. He also played an active role in SCORE, where he volunteered his wisdom, experience & knowledge to help small business owners start & grow their own businesses. His faith was central to his life, and he dedicated himself to St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Charleston as both an Elder and a member of the choir, where he lifted his voice in praise.
Those who knew Pete will remember him as a man of great character—kind, loyal, and generous, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile. He was truly well loved, and his legacy of love, service, and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
A service to celebrate Pete’s life will be held on a date to be determined at St Andrew’s Presbyterian Church in Charleston SC.
