SEPT. 11, 1930 — OCT. 16, 2003 DELAND — Allen A. Davis, 73, of Huntington Drive, a civil engineer for Florida State Department of Transportation in DeLand for more than 20 years, died Thursday at DeBary Manor, DeBary. Mr. Davis, an Army veteran of the Korean War serving as a captain and earning a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and a presidential unit citation, was born in Jacksonville. He moved here in 1973 from Georgia. He attended Carlisle Military School and was a graduate of the Citadel Military College, both in South Carolina. He taught at the former Mary Karl Vocational School, now part of Daytona Beach Community College. Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Lila; two daughters, Donna Hughes, Vero Beach, and Dorothy Kacsmaryk, Fort Worth, Texas; two stepsons, John McGovern, Washington, D.C., and William McGovern, Asheville, N.C.; five grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. Lankford, DeLand, is in charge.
