Alfred Courvoisie, II, husband of Shohreh Aghapour Courvoisie, of Charleston, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of March 25, 2009. The relatives and friends of Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Courvoisie, II are invited to attend his memorial service at Arthur J. Ravenel Stadium (Old St. Andrew’s Stadium), 721 Wappoo Road, Saturday morning, March 28, 2009, at eleven o’clock. The family will receive friends at International Church of God, 1560 Ashley River Road, this Friday afternoon from five until seven o’clock. Alfred was born October 3, 1947 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma, son of the late Lt. Col. Thomas Nugent Courvoisie, USA (Ret.) and the late Elizabeth Cosner Courvoisie. He was a 1965 graduate of Bishop England High School and 1969 graduate of The Citadel. He coached football, basketball and baseball for over 30 years at St. Andrew’s Parish High School. He found his greatest joy on the playing field. Coach “C” as he was lovingly called, was a geometry teacher and was known for his classroom antics. In addition to his wife Shohreh of Charleston, surviving are his son, Thomas Courvoisie and his financee’, Brittney Conyers of Charleston; three daughters, Carol Lynn Courvoisie of Charleston, Susan Payan and her husband Jose of Charleston, and Ayla Courvoisie of Charleston; a sister, Helen Courvoisie of Chapel Hill, NC; sister-in-law, Sharie Aghapour of Charleston; and his special canine companion, Wolfie.
