Alex Onop, 78, of Freehold Township, NJ, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at home. Alex was born in Paris, France and came to the U.S. in 1949 settling in Howell. Marrying Brigitte Musijenko in 1966, together they moved to Freehold Twp. A graduate of the Citadel in Charleston, SC in 1962, Alex served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He worked for Bristol-Myers Squibb in various supervisory positions until his retirement in 2001 after 32 years. Alex was a die-hard NY Giants and Mets fan and was a faithful member of St. Alexander Nevsky R.O. Cathedral, Howell.
He was predeceased by his loving wife of 48 years, Brigitte; his parents, Daniel and Olga Onop; and his in-laws, Peter and Christa Musijenko. Alex is survived by a son, Alex Onop of Freehold Twp.; a daughter, Adrienne Stuckey and her husband, Benjamin of Breckenridge, CO; and two grandchildren, Cole and Alex.
A Pannyhida will be held at St. Alexander Nevsky R.O. Cathedral, 200 Alexander Ave., Howell, NJ on Friday, May 11, 2018 at 5:00 PM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend his 10:00 AM Funeral Service at the Cathedral on Saturday, May 12, 2018. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Lakewood.
