Albert R. Bessinger SHREVEPORT, LA – Funeral services for Albert R. Bessinger, 75, will be held at 1 P.M. Monday, September 13, 2004 at Rose-Neath’s Southside Chapel. Rev. Mark Sutton will officiate and be assisted by Rev. John Harp. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park in Shreveport. Visitation will be Sunday evening from 5:00 P.M through 9 P.M. at Rose-Neath South Funeral Home. Mr. Bessinger passed away Friday afternoon September 10, 2004 after a brief battle with cancer. Al was a man of faith, a loving husband and father. He was a mentor, teacher, leader, deacon at Brookwood Baptist Church, and much beloved by many people in the community. Al was a graduate of the Citadel Military Academy of South Carolina and a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He worked with Lance, Inc. for over 40 years and was a loyal employee and pioneer for the company in North Louisiana, East Texas and South Arkansas. He had a passion for his work with restaurants and snack food distribution. After his retirement he enjoyed the company of his family, friends and the Domino Players group. Mr. Bessinger is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Bessinger; son, Fred and wife Melissa, of Dallas, Texas; son, David and wife Marti of Weatherford, Oklahoma; son, Glenn of Longview, Texas; five grandchildren: Patrick, Matthew, Lauren, Nicholas, and Alexander and daughter-in-law, Mary Bessinger of Longview, Texas. We will miss his smile and the way he made us laugh. Pallbearers will be Elgie Rogers, Richard Collins, Jerry Payne, Warren Goodfellow, Harry Clark, and Jim Richardson. Honorary pallbearers will include the Deacon Body of Brookwood Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that donations be made to Brookwood Baptist Building Fund.Rose-Neath Funeral Home
