Albert C. Garlington, Jr., 81, of Augusta, Georgia and formerly of Newnan, died On April 14, 2011 at The Georgia War Veterans’ Nursing Home in Augusta. He was born on November 21, 1929 in Balboa Heights in the Panama Canal Zone to the late Albert C. Garlington, Sr. and Mary Wright Garlington. He was a graduate of The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. During his military service between 1952 and 1955 he served in The United States Navy. This was during the period of The Korean Conflict. After leaving the service, he returned home to become involved in the building supply business for many years before his employment with Flintkote in Peachtree City. He retired from Flintkote in 1986, at which time he made Augusta his home. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Alice Garlington Neely. Survivors are his sons; Albert C. Garlington III of Palatine, IL, Heywood (Woody) Garlington and his wife, Joy, of Newnan, Robert Garlington of Valley, AL, and a daughter, Paula M. Garlington of LaGrange. Also surviving is his sister, Octavia Garlington of Augusta, GA. His granddaughter is Kelly Garlington and his great granddaughter is Shelby Garlington. There is an extended family of nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be on Monday, April 18, 2011 between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM at McKoon Funeral Home at 38 Jackson Street in Newnan.
