Albert “Albie” Charles Duc, 85, of Charleston, South Carolina, widower of Barbara Croom Duc entered into eternal rest Tuesday, May 10, 2016. His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016 in St. Johannes Lutheran Church, 48 Hasell Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in Gatch Hall at St. Johannes Lutheran Church. Arrangements by J. HENRY STUHR, INC. DOWNTOWN CHAPEL. Albie was born June 18, 1930 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of the late William O. Duc and Vivian Biel Duc. In 1951, he graduated from The Citadel and married the love of his life, Barbara, on September 1. He honorably served in the United States Air Force as a fighter pilot in Korea and Vietnam. He retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1974 and returned to Charleston to open a wine and cheese store. Albie was a deeply committed member of St. Johannes Lutheran Church. He served on the church council, as president of the congregation, and inspired many through his Sunday School teaching. Albie will be remembered for his sense of humor, keen wit, and his love of God, Barbara, family, friends, and country. He is survived by his son, Chaz Duc and wife Aileen of McKinney, TX; two daughters: Robbin Duc Mosier and husband Jimmy and Diane Duc McDanel, both of Charleston, SC; seven grandchildren: Adam Duc and wife Sarah, Kevin Duc, and Emily Duc, all of Plano, TX, Derek Mosier and wife Lauren, Melissa Mosier, Kirsten McDanel, and Preston McDanel, all of Charleston, SC; and one great-granddaughter, Sophia McDanel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Johannes Lutheran Church, 48 Hasell Street, Charleston, SC 29401.
