Alan Keith Thompson Sunrise: December 31, 1952 Sunset: October 1, 2003 Alan was born in Honolulu, Hawaii to parents Donald K. and Alberta K. Thompson. No amount of fireworks could usher in a new year with such joy. An Austinite for many years, his passing was sudden and unexpected. As an Army dependent his early years involved countless moves, schools and friends. He graduated from Reid Ross High School, Fayetteville, N.C. in 1971, and The Citadel of Charleston, S.C. in 1975, after which he served two years in the U.S. Army. Alan was extremely proud of his service to country. Austin became home in 1979. Employed by several firms over the past 24 years, including Leif Johnson Ford, he had been with Wal Mart for the last seven years. Alan’s love of animals was without precedent. Every dog he owned had been abandoned and was fortunate to find him. To his animals: “Mi casa es su casa.” The family wishes to thank his Wal Mart associates and neighborhood friends for their years of friendship and support. Please know he spoke of you often and well. Alan will be remembered for the unconditional love he showed not only his friends and family, but strangers as well. He always had time to help others, a smile on his face and something nice to say. He was kind, sincere and genuine. A loving son, brother, Uncle, cousin and friend, Alan was preceded in death by his father, Donald K. Thompson. Left to mourn him are his mother, Alberta Thompson; brothers, Stuart L., John C. II and wife, Lori; former sister-in-law, Debby Thompson; nephews, Donald K. II, John C. III, Adam K. and Hunter C.; nieces, Christine, Audrey and Shelby; and his beloved lab, Sam.
