Adrian C. McManus, Jr. – Athens, GA July 16, 1921 – December 4, 2011 Preceded in death by his wife of 64 years Josephine C. McManus, Father Adrian C. McManus, Sr., Mothers Edna Tiencken McManus and Leone Clark McManus, and brother Roger Traxler McManus, and sister-in-law Christine McManus. Born in Washington, DC and grew up in Greenville, SC and Greensboro, NC. He is a 1942 graduate from the Citadel and was a 1st Lt. in the United States Army. After he left the army in 1946 he worked for several textile companies in sales, living in several states until settling in Athens in 1959. He retired from Empire Manufacturing in Winder, Georgia He is survived by his brother Edward Tiencken McManus of Apopka, Florida and sister and brother-in-law Jane and Bob Clarke of Fullerton, CA, sister-in-law Carolyn McManus of Hilton Head, SC and his children Lindy Lively and husband Earl of Bogart, Georgia, John McManus and wife Sheryl of Atlanta and Adrian McManus III and wife Jody of Salisbury, NC. He is also survived by six grandchildren, Carol Lively, David Earl Lively, Jason, Jared, Ashley and Justin McManus and three great grandchildren, Brandon, Madison and Caleb Lively, and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Friday, Dec. 9, 2011 at Bridges Funeral Home Chapel with a visitation one hour prior to the service, with Rev. Jack Segars officiating. Visitation will be held Thursday, Dec. 8, 2011 – 4 to 7 PM. Graveside services will be held 2:00 pm, Dec. 17 at Springwood Cemetery, Greenville, SC . Memorials may be made to Georgia State Golf Association 121 Village Pkwy, Bldg. E, Marietta, GA 30067 or Athens Golden K – Kiwanis 1250 Chaddwyck Dr. Athens, GA 30606 or your favorite charity .
