Obituary:
Mr. Rogers was born April 16, 1936, in Charleston, SC, son of the late John Ellsworth Rogers and Ammie Buchanan Rogers. An avid supporter of The Citadel athletics where he attended as a college student in the 1950's. Rogers was raised in downtown Charleston where he was an active member of St. Michael's Episcopal Church. After serving as a Sergeant in the US Army, Rogers began a 30 year long respected career as a Customs House Broker along the downtown waterfront. After retiring in 1991, his affection for the city, his family and The Citadel remained his passion. Surviving are his wife, Millie Phillips Rogers of Mt. Pleasant, SC; one son, Andrew Buchanan Rogers, Jr. of Charleston, three daughters, Andrea P. Rogers of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Rogers Dunahoe and her husband, Col. Paul Brent, of Stafford, VA and Jennifer Rogers Albers and her husband, Axel, of Germany; and eight grandchildren.
