James J. “Jim” Halpin, age 77, of Wayne, PA and Stone Harbor, N.J, passed away suddenly on June 29, 2022. Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late James J. Halpin, Sr. and Rita Halpin (nee McNiff).
Jim Graduated from Father Judge High School, The Citadel, and MBA International Business from Temple University. He was a proud employee of CCA & Jefferson Smurfit for 44 years.
Jim was a devout Catholic who grew up in St. Edmonds Parish in South Philadelphia and St. Matthew’s Parish in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia. He was a longtime parishioner of Mother Divine Providence in King of Prussia.
Jim always enjoyed his life. Summers spent in Stone Harbor with family, especially his grandchildren. He loved going to their many sporting events and activities. He enjoyed many golf outings with special friends for many years at Edgemont and Rivercrest Golf Clubs. He coached his sons in basketball and later visited them often at The Citadel with his wife. For countless years he enjoyed Navy football games at Annapolis with his family and Broadway shows with his wife. Jim lost his parents at an early age so he shared a special closeness with his sister Mary Rita and brother Harry.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Eileen Halpin (nee McDermott), and his devoted sons James M. Halpin and Michael J. Halpin (Terri) (and the late Megan Kerr). He was the doting grandfather of Dylan, Maryn, Sara, Mikey and Maddie. Also survived by his siblings Harry Halpin (Becky) and Mary Rita Brennan (Fran) and Eileen’s 15 brother and sisters, who he thought of as siblings, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit the family Friday, July 8, 2022 9:45-10:50 AM at St. Katharine of Siena Church, 104 S. Aberdeen Avenue, Wayne, PA and to his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment private.
