Thomas “Tommy” Stephen Miller, 80 of Salisbury, N.C., passed away Sunday, December 12, 2021 at his home.
Born July 7, 1941 in Batesburg, SC, he was the son of the late Harold “Jimmy” McCoy Miller and Cora Faye Hall Miller.
He graduated from Lancaster High School, Lancaster, SC where he was a member of the band, was a Demolay, served as a school bus driver and was a Boy Scout.
He was employed by Cone Mills for 22 years before retiring.
Mr. Miller was a charter member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, Lancaster, SC and attended Milford Hills United Methodist Church. He was a former member of the Catawba Chiefs Club and served as a Boy Scout Leader while in Cornelia, GA.
He was a big “Carolina Tar Heel” fan, enjoyed western movies and those with John Wayne. He also enjoyed family get togethers especially with his grandsons.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Thomas Dean Miller on April 7, 1999 and siblings, Margaret Miller Crook, Cliff Miller, Pris Miller Page, Rhett Miller and Bobby Miller.
Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 59 years, Helen Booth Miller; daughter, Stephanie Paige Miller Yates of Greensboro; sisters, Susan Miller Ulrich and husband Tom of Lancaster, SC, and Becky Miller Robinson and husband Craig of Simpsonville, SC; grandson, Jacob Bryce Yates and Tyler Dean Yates; extra special friends, Rhonda and John Elliott of Gold Hill; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12-1 PM Friday (Dec. 17) at Summersett Funeral Home followed by the service with Rev. Steve Combs officiating. Interment will follow at Rowan Memorial Park.
Memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
