Clark Hunter Petteway, age 88, of Shalimar, FL passed away on December 16, 2021, at Fort Walton Beach Medical Center. He was born on October 23, 1933, in Suffolk, VA to Eunice Hunter and Elliot Jennings Petteway. He attended schools in Jacksonville, NC, and Beaufort, SC. He graduated from the Citadel in 1955 & began his Air Force service. During the next 27 years, Clark served as a C-123 Pilot, Education & Training Staff Officer & Programming Officer. His assignments included France, Vietnam, Iran & Turkey as well as the Special Operations School at Hurlburt Field FL. He retired in 1982 from NATO/AIR SOUTH in Naples, Italy. He enjoyed gardening especially while living in Lago Patria (Naples) where the rich volcanic soil would produce beautiful flowers & vegetables. He also enjoyed cooking for family and friends.
Clark was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach where he served as a Deacon, Sound Tech, and Hand Bells Choir.
Clark is survived by his wife, Linda, of over 53 years; daughter Debbie (Denis) of CA; and son Bill (Carol) of AL; six grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also by his beloved fur baby and constant companion, Mindy Lou. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother James Petteway, sister Dr. Betty E. Petteway, and special aunt Eileen Hunter.
Honoring his wishes he was cremated and interment will take place at a later date at Barrancas National Cemetery. The family requests memorial contributions are made to First Presbyterian Church (music ministry) 134 SW Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach FL 32548.
