Fred Alvis Donham Jr., age 90, of Mt. Juliet, Tennessee, passed away on Nov. 27, 2021. He was born August 28, 1931, to Fred Alvis and Clara Perkins Donham in Little Rock, Arkansas. Fred graduated from Boys High in Atlanta, GA, and from The Citadel (1953) in Charleston, SC. He married Margaret Ann Beck, of Charleston in 1953, and was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant. They had three sons, Fred Alvis III, Victor Reid and Michael Beck. He later married Lorraine Jean Watson. His career in the insurance industry led him to Greenville, SC, Atlanta, GA, Seattle, WA, and Nashville, TN. Fred joined Clan Donald USA after learning of his ancestor James McDonald, who immigrated from the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Since that time he has been very interested in his Scottish heritage, and visited ancestral Clan Donald sites in Scotland several years ago. He was predeceased by his parents, his brother Jerry Perkins Donham, and his wife, Jean, who died Nov. 19, 2021. He is survived by sons Fred, Victor (Lynn), and Michael (Torii); four granddaughters, Jennifer Lynn Donham, Stefanie Marie Slack, Patricia Kelly Townsend and Laura Regina Donham; and two great-granddaughters, Scarlett Noelle Townsend and Bridget Elizabeth Marie Slack. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Sandra Donham and nephews Jerry, Scott, and Chris. Funeral services are in charge of Marshall Donnelly Combs Funeral Home, Nashville, Tn. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday December 21, 2021, at the “Woodlawn Roesch Patton Memorial Park,” Nashville, Tn Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.marshalldonnellycombs.com for the Donham family.
