John “Jay” Moseley Hart, Jr., 51, of Charleston, South Carolina, husband of Catherine Ellen Cox Hart, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 after a short illness. His Funeral Service will be held Sunday, October 31, 2021 in Grace Episcopal Church Cathedral, 98 Wentworth Street at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private at a later date. The family will receive friends on Friday, October 29th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in J. Henry Stuhr Inc., West Ashley Chapel, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway. Jay was born November 8, 1969 in Charleston, South Carolina, son of John Moseley Hart and Flora Price Hart. He was a proud graduate of Middleton High School in 1988 and The Citadel, Class of 1992, Romeo Company. He was a lifelong member of Grace Episcopal Church Cathedral, where he served as an usher, middle school and high school youth programs volunteer, and a past member of the vestry. Jay never met a stranger and could rarely go anywhere without meeting someone whom he held a friendly connection with. Jay is survived by his wife, Ellen; daughter, Kathryn L.K. Hart; two sons, Michael M. Hart and Robert W. Hart; parents, John and Flora Price Hart; and two brothers, Steven P. Hart and Robert F. Hart, all of Charleston, SC.
