John J. McSweeney, 83, of Woodland Park, NJ passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his loving family on Monday, July 26, 2021. Jack was born on March 25, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York he and his wife, Rosemary moved to Woodland Park, NJ in 2007. Jack was a proud graduate of The Citadel. He was employed for 39 years at Metropolitan Life Insurance Company retiring in 2000. While at Met Life he rose to the position of Vice President in charge of Treasury and Investments. Jack was a life long member of The Ancient Order of Hibernians and the Knights of Columbus. He was a faithful parishioner of St. Philip The Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton where he was a Eucharistic Minister. He loved being a member of the Chorus at Four Seasons at Great Notch. Jack is predeceased by his son, Thomas Leo McSweeney; his parents, John James and Mary (nee Murphy) McSweeney; and his sister, Marie O’Keefe. Jack is survived by his wife of 59 years, Rosemary (nee Kelly); his daughter, Mary Kay Blanco and son-in-law, Richard; his son, Michael Joseph McSweeney and daughter-in-law, Yoko; He was the joyful and loving grandfather of, Amelia and Matthew; his faithful canine companion, Charlie; and one sister, Kathleen Mulcahy. Friends may call on Thursday from 4:00 pm 8:00 pm at Bizub-Quinlan Funeral Home, 1313 Van Houten Avenue, Clifton, NJ. Funeral service Friday 10:15 am at the Funeral Home. Mass 11:30 am St. Philip The Apostle R.C. Church, Clifton. Interment to follow at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Montclair.
