Allen H. Beiner, 75, passed away from complications of Waldenstrom’s Macroglobulinemia (W/M) in Tallahassee, Florida.
Allen was born May 7, 1946 in Chicago, Illinois. From 1964 – 1968 he attended The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. and upon graduation was commissioned in the Regular Army as a 2nd Lieutenant. He went to Airborne school and was assigned to the 82nd Airborne Division. He then went to Ranger school and shortly after went to South Vietnam where he was assigned to D Company, 75th Rangers. There he attended RECONDO School. While in the Army he was awarded the Silver Star, the Army Commendation Medal with “V” device, 2 Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm. Allen medically retired as a Captain from the Army due to combat injuries on Augusts, 14, 1971. He entered FBI Agents training school on August 16, 1971.
As an FBI Agent Allen served in Atlanta, Ga., Jacksonville, FL., Panama City, FL., and lastly, Tallahassee, FL., where he retired as the Supervisory Senior Resident Agent of Tallahassee and Gainesville on May 31, 2003 at age 57, mandatory retirement age. Eighteen months later, he went back to the FBI as a contract investigator for 2 years, leaving the FBI for the last time in the spring of 2007. That spring Allen was hired by the Florida Judicial Qualifications Commission (JQC) to act as a contract investigator, investigating Florida Judges who were accused of violating the Judicial Canons of Ethics.
In September 2017, Allen was diagnosed with W/M, a cancer of the protein produced in the bone marrow. The incurable disease is recognized by the government as one of approximately fifteen different diseases caused by exposure to the herbicide used in Vietnam dubbed “Agent Orange.” In August of 2018, Allen volunteered for a 2 year clinical study at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville whose purpose was to try to find a cure for W/M.
Allen is survived by his wife, Edie of 44 years of marriage; his son, Ryan and his wife, Whitney; and grandson, Rudy; his daughter, Cristina and her husband, Brock; and grandsons, Brock Jr. and Pierce.
Graveside service with military honors will be held on, Tuesday, August 3, 2021 at 10:00 AM at the Tallahassee National Cemetery located at 5015 Apalachee Parkway, Tallahassee, FL, 32311.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be sent to Big Bend Hospice, Tallahassee, FL and the American Cancer Society.
