Clayton Bernard Hallmark, 63, of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, husband of Karen Hallmark, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, June 23, 2021. A private service will be held at a later date. Arrangements by J. Henry Stuhr, Inc. Mount Pleasant Chapel. Clay was born October 28, 1957 in Atlanta, Georgia, son of Alice Smart Hallmark and the late Billy Bob Hallmark. He studied civil engineering at The Citadel, architecture and studio art at the University of Pittsburgh, Oxford University, and Carnegie Mellon University. He was the principal owner of Hallmark Design in Pittsburgh. He received his MBA from Duquesne University. Upon their move back to Charleston, Clay worked in real estate. He is survived by his wife, Karen Hallmark of Mt. Pleasant, SC; daughter, Emily Hardee (Michael) of Mt. Pleasant, SC; son, William Clayton Hallmark (Katie) of Lexington, SC; mother, Alice S. Hallmark of Charleston, SC; sister, Karen H. Griffin (George) of Southern Pines, NC; sister-in-law, Debbie Hallmark of Greenville, SC; and granddaughters, Maggie and Emma. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Mt. Pleasant Presbyterian Church, 302 Hibben St, Mt Pleasant, SC 29464.
