Anthony P. “Tony” Canino, 84, of Bridgeton, N.J., passed away Sunday morning May 30, 2021 at Inspira Medical Center in Vineland following an illness with Parkinson’s Disease. Born in West Grove, PA on February 14, 1937, he was the son of the late Mariano and Rose Fazio Canino. Tony was the husband of Ada G. (nee DiBartolomeo) Canino and they had been married for 53 years. He was a longtime Bridgeton resident, having graduated from Bridgeton High School in 1955. Following graduation, he matriculated at The Citadel in Charleston, SC where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. Tony worked as a Civil and Utilities Engineer for the State of New Jersey-Department of Transportation in Trenton and Mt. Laurel before retiring. He was a longtime member of The Parish of the Holy Cross/St. Teresa of Avila RC Church in Bridgeton. He had many varied hobbies which included, hunting, crabbing, playing tennis and camping. He also had an interest in both classic and antique cars. Tony was a member of the South Jersey Pontiac Club. His favorite card game was pinochle. In addition to his wife, Ada, he is survived by one daughter, Maria Canino of Bridgeton, three sons, Anthony Canino Jr. of Marmora, Frank Canino of Bridgeton and Chris Canino of North Palm Beach, FL, two grandchildren, Renee Canino and Franky Ortiz. He was predeceased by his sister, Jeanne Huber, in 2017. Relatives and friends will be received at the Freitag Funeral Home, 137 W. Commerce St., Bridgeton on Friday morning June 4th from 9:30 until 10:30 when the procession will form and travel to The Parish of the Holy Cross/St. Teresa of Avila RC Church, 46 Central Avenue in Bridgeton where the Funeral Liturgy will begin at 11 o’clock.
