Franklin Roosevelt Baz , 86, of Raceland, Kentucky, passed away on Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at Majestic Care of Sheridan. He was born on November 10, 1934 to Ralph and Edith (Moyd) Baz in Georgetown, South Carolina. Franklin proudly served his country as an assistant chaplain in the United States Army while he was stationed in Germany. He attended The Citadel and graduated from Southeastern Bible College and earned his Masters of Divinity from Lutheran Theological Seminary. He was a minister for over 60 years, during which time, he and Jeannine pastored in North and South Carolina, Illinois, and Minnesota. Ordained with the Assemblies of God, he also served as a VA Hospital Chaplain. Franklin loved being around people and would share the love of Jesus with a contagious smile. He had a warm and loving spirit toward everyone and never knew a stranger. He and his wife founded New Life Ministries, a charitable organization of Northeastern Kentucky. He was very well loved and will be greatly missed. Franklin is survived by his wife of 55 1/2 years, Wanda Jeannine Baz; 3 daughters, Joanna Lynette Dubra (Anthony), Maria Michelle Johnson (Todd), and Christina Denise Peternel (Nathan); 5 grandchildren, Jonathan, Charis, Chloe, Ellyana, and Madilynn; and his siblings, Sharkey, Edith, Raffia Elizabeth, Doug, Laverne and Richard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Haleim, Eugene, Raymond, Ralph Jr., Nezia “Turk” and Jimel. Services will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, April 19, 2021 at Life Church, 2200 Sheridan Road, Noblesville, IN, with visitation from 10:00 am until the time of service. Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery in Indianapolis. All are welcome to attend his homegoing celebration. There are no Covid restrictions.
