Edward “Ed” L. Blackwell, 86, of Lake Wylie, SC, went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at his home, surrounded by family. He leaves behind a legacy of dedicated community service, professional success, and an unwavering love for his family and friends.

Ed was born June 28, 1940, in Florence, SC, to the late Ed and Bertie Blackwell. His foundation of leadership and discipline began at The Citadel, where he graduated in 1962. He put those strengths to work in a long and successful career in sales with American Home Products, NASKA, and G & W Labs. A proud South Carolinian at heart, Ed eventually came home to live his dream of being a true South Carolinian.

His favorite pastimes were hunting wild turkey and deer with his grandsons, playing tennis and pickleball, and hunting for shark teeth on Myrtle Beach with his wife.

Ed is survived by Carol, his wife of 60 years; his daughters, Kimberly Blackwell (Doug) of Denver, CO, and Kristin Robinson (Simon) of Lake Wylie, SC; and his grandchildren, Harry Robinson, Owen Jennings, Mason Jennings, and Jack Robinson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Carolyn Lowie.

Ed’s contagious humor and smile will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
