William A. Thompson, Jr., age 90, of Stockbridge, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, September 20, 2026.
He was born in Indiana to the late William and Violet
Shives Thompson.
Thompson is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Peggy; (Daughters) Cherrell Skelton (Bobby) Charleston
SC, Johnel Searcy (Jeff) Greenville SC, Beth Francis (Kevin) Las Vegas, Nv, Dawn Koger (Trey) Indianapolis, Ind:, (Grandchildren) Cristen Hansford (James), Ashleigh Day (Tim), Parker Searcy, Gregory Francis, Alex Francis, Chase Koger (Kasey) & Emily Thomas (Shaquez); (Great-Grandchildren) Ella Hansford, Holden Hansford, Brady Day, Emery Day, James Thomas, Luke Thomas.
Lovingly referred to as “Coach T” by many of his students, had a passion for teaching as well as coaching. Mr. Thompson attended The Citadel, Class of
’60, Charleston SC, as well as The University of South Carolina. He proudly served his country with the Marine Corps during the Korean War.
