Richard Olin (Dick) Webb, 87, of Fayetteville, Georgia passed away with family present on August 12, 2026. He was born to Roy and Gertrude Webb in Johnson City, Tennessee on August 24,1938 during the Great Depression. He was an only child.

Dick graduated with a degree in electrical engineering from The Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina. He was a member of the elite Summerall Guards drill unit. He met his future wife, Julia, during his college years while she was still a high school student. They married following his graduation.

He was hired by Fortune 500 company Owens-Corning Fiberglass after graduation. His business career was interrupted by service in the United States Army where he served as a lieutenant in an artillery unit at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.

Upon returning to Owens-Corning he rapidly and steadily climbed the corporate ladder which required frequent relocations across the country for his family. He was promoted early in his career to running manufacturing facilities. While only in his forties he later advanced to upper management at the company’s home offices. He assumed responsibilities over the next decade as vice president of divisions that included manufacturing and foreign acquisitions. He also helped establish the company’s presence in China when that country first began inviting in western companies.

He and Julia returned to South Carolina when he retired in his fifties. He had traveled extensively as part of his job and he and Julia continued to travel in retirement. They eventually visited all 50 states, all the world’s continents, many countries, and many of the Canadian provinces. He also enjoyed playing golf, playing various card games, reading murder mysteries, and watching the Hallmark Channel.

Dick was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He is preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Julia Sadler; and his parents. Dick leaves to cherish his memory, his daughters Paige (Kevin) Lambert and Sharon (Mark) Morehart; and his grandchildren Miriam Morehart (Taylor Linquist), Nathan Morehart, and Parker Lambert; and his special friend Ruth Mizerek.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, August 29, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Fayetteville First United Methodist Church, Fayetteville with Kaylen Short officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to The Nature Conservancy.
