William Randolph Cochran (Randy), 83, of Summerville, joined his beloved Susie and Jesus in heaven on June 8th. Born to James and Flora Cochran, he went on to graduate from The Citadel (64) where he was the man behind Spike for 2 years. After graduation he served as an officer in the U.S. Army (64 – 67) and fought in the Vietnam War. He had two children, Jonathan (Dawn) and Bonnie (Layne). Randy later met Susie Slayton, they married and lived happily together in Salem, VA until she passed from Alzheimers. Randy lovingly served as Susie’s caregiver during her long illness. Randy moved to Summerville, SC where he joined Old Fort Baptist Church and was blessed to spend time with his Citadel alumni and neighborhood friends. Randy loved his family and is survived by his children, grandchildren (Jackson Belbusti (Bailye), Jonathan Cochran, Grace Thompson, Marshall Cochran) and his great grandchildren (Isabella and Olivia Belbusti). He also leaves behind numerous cousins and friends. Randy was predeceased by his parents, by Susie and his older brother David. The family wishes to thank the nurses and hospice team at Trident for their care and compassion during his illness. Randy will have a private celebration of his homecoming. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Citadel Foundation in Randy’s memory.
