George Thomas Stone, 92, passed into the loving arms of his Savior on Wednesday May 13, 2026, in Tallahassee, Florida. George was born in Palatka, Florida to Thomas Henry and Germaine Boichet Stone. He grew up in nearby Hastings before earning a degree in civil engineering at The Citadel. He was an officer who served 24 years active duty, retiring as a lieutenant colonel. He continued as a civil servant supporting the Air Force in Fort Walton Beach, Florida after his military retirement.
On July 2, 1955 George married his beloved wife Alice Merritt Stone of Fort Fairfield, Maine. They loved raising their family and travelling the world together. Their relationship with their Lord was paramount, and they were faithful members of First Baptist Church, Fort Walton Beach, Florida for decades. They served as Sunday School teachers for many years and went on many mission trips together.
George’s greatest legacy is his family, who continue to uphold his values of love, service, faith, and patriotism.
