Jack Corbett Sizemore, III, 67, of Greenwood, SC, husband of Tara Holtzclaw Sizemore, passed away July 24, 2019, at Hospice \u0026 Palliative Care of the Piedmont. Born December 21, 1951, in Cowpens, he was a son of the late Jack Corbett Sizemore, Jr. and Elizabeth “Betty” McWilliams Sizemore. He was a 1970 graduate of Greenwood High School and received his Bachelor’s Degree from Lander University where he played and served as captain of the Men’s Tennis Team, which was the first team coached by Joe Cabri. He later received his Master’s Degree in Science and Physical Education from The Citadel. A truly diverse and talented gentleman, he held many careers during his lifetime. He taught at McCormick Elementary and St. Stephens Elementary and later at Berkeley High School, coaching tennis and other sports the whole time. He lead the Berkeley Tennis Team to a 4A State Championship during his tenure there. Jack moved on to pursue a career in real estate and became a high producer for Merrill Lynch Real Estate in Summerville before becoming a developer and helping to found Pine Forest Country Club in Summerville. He was also serving as a first responder with various EMS agencies during his time in Summerville and would keep that up by working with several firms in the Greenwood area when he moved back to care for his family. After returning to Greenwood he became involved with the development of Hunter’s Creek Golf and Country Club as a sales representative and later worked for Capsugel, followed by another teaching stint with John Della Howe School in McCormick. He was always involved with EMT work and worked with Riverside Emergency Transport and several others in the Greenwood area over the years. He was beloved by his patients as many continued to call and correspond with him years later. A member of Woodfields Baptist Church, he was also a member of the US Tennis Association, having been active in tournaments throughout the southeast and indeed the country. Jack was known for his boiled peanuts and pork rinds, which were always a crowd favorite. Surviving in addition to his wife of 39 years are two sons, Corbett Ryan (Sarah) Sizemore and Trevor Grey Sizemore, all of Greenwood; a daughter, Erin Lindsay (Frank) Sizemore of Columbia; a brother, Jeff (Amy) Sizemore of Chapin; two sisters, Janis (Bruce) Jones of Dunwoody, GA and Julie (Sherwood) Miler of Summerville; three grandchildren, Maddie and Ryan Sizemore and Bradley Sizemore O’Neal; and a granddog, Sabastian Pups. He was predeceased by a sister, Joyce S. Wilson. Memorial services will be conducted 4:00 pm Sunday at the Blyth Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sam Cooper officiating. Honorary escort will be Townes Jones, Joe Cabri, Donnie McKellar, Rob Cavanaugh, Rodney McAlister, Bobby Holland, Andy Anderson, Furman Mauldin, Robert Young, Harold Crawford, Dicky Bryan, Tony Gable, Chris Simpson, Stewart Hampton, Harvey Hines, Marvin Jackson, Pat Gwinn, Frank Osczpinski, Johnny Buford, Jim Moore, Chuck Cape and Scott Campbell. The family is at the home and will gather to visit with friends at the funeral home from 2:30 to 4:00 Sunday afternoon. Memorials may be made to Hospice \u0026 Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 W. Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC, 29646.
