C. Adams Moore, of Boynton Beach, Fla., died May 23, 2019. Born in Garden City, New York, Adams Moore graduated from high
school in Garden City. He went on from there to attend c~llege ~t the
Citadel in Charleston, South Carolina in 1955, graduatmg with a
Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physic Degree.
Following graduation, Adams worked purely in research ~nanaging t?e
applied optics laboratory at the U.S. Naval Department m Annapolis,
Maryland. There he met a very able assistant intern, Lois LaBelle, who
was also a physics major from Bryn Mawr. Adams proceeded to pursue
his intern assistant until she became his wife of 62 years.
Adams , always the thrill seeker, then proce~ded to ~igh~ school _in tl~e
USAF where he spent 3 l/2 years flying smgle engme J~ts – with his
famous flight flying upside down under the Golden Gate Bndge!
In 1958, with the rank of Captain at 25 years of age, he resigned from the
USAF and enrolled in the Loop Training Program at Bethlehem Steel
Corp. He worked as a salesman in Richmond, VA as ~ell as the Home
Office in Bethlehem. In 1966 he was promoted to Assistant Manager of
Sales Plate Production Division. Then in 1972 Adams became the
youngest Manager of Sales in the company at the age of 38.
In 1976 Adams was promoted to Manager of the Chicago Distr ict Sales
Office. In 1983, at 49, he became Vice President of Sales, where he
remained for nine more years. Adams was also President of the
Bethlehem Steel Export Corporation Association.
Upon retirement from Bethlehem Steel Corporation in 199~, he was
asked to be on the Board of Maverick Tube Corp. as well as Fisher Tank
Corp. In addition, he continued to do consulting work for several other
steel companies.
He is survived by his wife, Lois; his daughter, Debbie; and his son,
Charles Moore , Jr.
