Eugene “Gene” Robert Walter, III, 67, of Norway, SC, passed away May 22, 2019. He was the husband of the late Peggie C. Walter. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 28, 2019, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church, St. Matthews, with Dr. Karl Coke officiating. Gene was born in Orangeburg, son of the late Eugene Robert Walter Jr. and the late Charlotte Willard Walter. He was a graduate of Wade Hampton Academy and earned a Bachelor’s degree from the Citadel. Gene was retired as a Safety Officer with The Regional Medical Center and served as organist for Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church. × Survivors include his daughter, Christel Newton of North Charleston; his stepdaughter, Stacie Martin (Bill) of Texas; brother, Louis W Walter (Laura) of Lexington; two sisters, Deborah Walter of Beaufort, and Charlotte Walter Ellard of Roswell, Georgia; one uncle, John C. Von Lehe; three grandchildren, Connor Newton, Katie Martin, and Colin Martin; and 12 nieces and nephews.
