Ralph “Gene” Kurz, of Lauderdale by the Sea, FL, passed away peacefully November 14, 2018 Gene was born in 1930 and attended a military boarding school. He was destined for a career in the military and went on to graduate with honors from The Citadel in 1952. Gene joined the Army and served in the Korean War. He returned to the US and married his first wife Millie. They went on to have two children while Genes’ military career took them overseas and eventually back to the US. Settling down in Florida, Gene pursued a career in police administration and worked for Metro-Dade Police for over 20 years, Honorably retiring in 1989. During that time Gene continued his military career in the Army Reserves and eventually retired as a full Colonel in 1990. A few years after the passing of his first wife, Gene married his 2nd wife Juanita and they enjoyed their retirement years living between Florida and Nevada. After Juanita’s passing Gene moved to be closer to his family in South Florida. Gene was a father, a military veteran and an all around wonderful man, He was loved by many and will be surely missed. Gene is survived by his children David and Sandra, his grandchildren Brandon and Isabella and his great granddaughter Charlotte. Visitation Sunday, November 25th from 6:00 ~ 8:00 P.M. at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home, 6301 Taft Street Hollywood with a prayer service beginning at 7:00 P.M. Funeral Services, Monday, November 26th at the funeral home at 10:00 A.M. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow at Hollywood Memorial Gardens Cemetery North, 3001 North 72 Avenue, Hollywood.
